It would be nice if it was on a regular schedule, and I think it is supposed to be (i.e., delayed by a day on holiday weeks), but it seems to be erratic at best. More than once, I did not take my trash out on the regular day, only to have to dash out in a hurry when they came rambling by. I just chalked it up to the carting company sometimes being behind and other times not. But if you can get some definitive information on this, that would be good.

My2Cents is correct. In the past we have assumed that trash pickup would be delayed a day due to a holiday, only to be caught in the same predicament - scurrying out to the garage to grab the garbage cans and get them to the curb because you hear the garbage truck coming down your street. It's not happened recently, but a couple of years ago we seemed to be getting burned on amore frequent basis. The City does make an announcement on the website now, so people can always check there when in doubt.

Actually not all of Ansonia is on a Wednesday schedule in the first place. Part of the town is on a Monday pick up or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday. Therefore 'Ansonia's residential trash pickup is on Wednesday each week' is actually incorrect depending on what part of town you live in. So who is part of the stream of stupidity now?

Our trash gets put out into the garbage bin as it accumulates through the week. Whether that is in the back yard or gets moved to the front lawn for pick up is irrelevant, it will still stink in either location.

When is Ansonia going to upgrade its sanitation service and move to city provided bins that have a lid and are emptied by the truck? That type of service has been around for many years and is used in neighboring communities. It would reduce the odor alluded to by Ryan and would provide uniform size garbage bins for all community members.

It would also help if the Ansonia website actually indicated the actual dates of recycling pickup. "...your recycling day is your regular garbage day every other week." When does every other week begin? When I first moved to Ansonia, I had to guess and follow the neighbors since that isn't very clear. Maybe an actual calendar showing dates would be better than a general statement.

I just moved to Ansonia. I looked online to see if anything was stated about the trash being picked up a day later. Nothing. If no news was provided, I'm going to assume I need to put the trash out on the normal day.

Why does a garbage can bother you? Who cares if it's near the road. If it's covered, it should be no big deal. If it's been ransacked by animals, I can why you would post this. If it stinks, better for the family to have it near the road than near their home.

I've lived in Ansonia for 23 years and my trash has been collected in my neighborhood every Monday, not every Wednesday.

Our trash day is Thursday where i live. And yes, the town posts on their website when collection dates change due to holiday. It's a notice right on the front page of the site.
